The best CFA Level 2 books are a great, cost effective alternative to buying a full CFA study course. Unless your employer is willing to purchase you a full set of study materials, you will probably have to come up with $350-$1,500 to buy your own. This is on top of what it costs to actually take the exam itself.
Needless to say, I understand how you feel and know it can be tough to budget something like this in. The good news is there are a few different top CFA prep books for level II out there.
Will these books be as comprehensive as a full-blown study guide? Of course they won’t be. They don’t include all of the lectures, study slides, and custom question test banks that the real course have, but they do present all of the information that you need to pass the exam. So if you are on a budget and can’t afford to buy a full course, this is a great option. You can also use it as supplement to a study guide you’ve already purchased on one you will buy in the future. For instance, if you bought a book to test it out and realized that you will need more help than a book can offer and purchase a study guide, you can still use your book to help fill in the gaps.
